Intentional Enthusiasm: How to accelerate personal greatness | Sonny Melendrez | TEDxSanAntonio

For as long as he can remember, Sonny Melendrez has approached life with great enthusiasm. But it wasn’t until recently that he discovered a dynamic that can actually allow you to hasten your goals, visions and results. He calls it Intentional Enthusiasm. Science tells us that the brain experiences a kind of euphoria when it is in the enthusiastic state. A single thought, stoked by enthusiasm, can cause the brain to release the “happy chemicals” of dopamine, serotonin, endorphin and oxytocin. What if you could turn that condition on, like the flick of a switch, intentionally? Sonny offers personal and historical proof of this phenomenon, along with the latest findings that explain how enthusiasm sets “wheels in motion” toward a positive desired result. Through storytelling, he shares common key behaviors that life-long “enthusiasts” use to their distinct advantage. Emerson observed that, “Nothing great was ever accomplished without enthusiasm.” Sonny Melendrez began his career as a broadcaster at age 19, while attending University of Texas at El Paso. He gained national recognition when he was named Billboard Magazine’s National Radio Personality of the Year (twice).
Sonny received a Grammy nomination for his creation of the children’s version of the worldwide anthem, “We Are the World,” benefiting USA for Africa.
